A nice day and not a whole lot going on so we put a train together with ours and Mike's cars, 24 plus the caboose in all.
The F7 trucks were just recently rebuilt by David Newell in Wisconsin after a rather nasty wreck in Canton GA shorted out the electronics in the GP-9 and the discovery of the wheels being loose on the axles of the F7. The original MDM wheels were cast iron and they wallowed out on the key ways of the axles. The new wheels are steel and new axles with the wheels shrunk on so they are NEVER going to come off or wobble again. We had David's brake rigging installed on the F7 trucks and they are now far more reliable than the old MDM brakes. David's EMD Blomberg Trucks are the finest on the market and I highly recommend his work.
All it all, the rebuilding of the trucks was absolutely worth the efforts and David's machining of the needed parts is absolutely excellent.
75% of the cars on this train belong to our partner Mike, the rest are ours.
