I was wondering if anyone is familiar with riveting copper boilers and caulking with soft solder. I know general practice is hard solder only but have recently heard about a different method . I was told that some model boilers were riveted with monel rivets and then soft soldered for a caulk only. Supposedly this is an accepted method? I imagine that the front tube must be hard soldered as you could not back up the rivets.
