Has anyone had touble bending the brass to form the tanks for Kozo's New Shay in 3/4" scale, using Kozo's method in the book? My corners are not looking fair at all. It seems as though one has to bend with a perfect arcing movement and I can't seem to regulate that action. Now I'm looking to make a mandrel with slots (to protect the dummy rivets) to hammer the corners into a nice radius. Anyone with first hand experience? Thanks.

I am doing the A3 so don't know quite what bends you mean nor what method he uses for Shay. If you aren't already doing it, try annealing the sheets where the bends go. When it is "dead soft" they bend more easily without distorting the rest of the sheet.

Okay, "tender tank" or water tank. I'm talking specifically about the method shown in the book so this is directed to those who have tied this method. I have made bends using other methods but wanted to try Kozo's and was wondering how it worked for others. I think that annealling would have helped but Kozo did not mention it so I didn't do it. I'm an amateur builder and learn something new every day. Thanks everyone.
