Has anyone scaled up the A4 axle pump to 1.5 scale? Should I double the pump body dimensions? What should the bore and stroke be? I want to use this on a 1.5 scale Consolidation. Should I have two axle water pumps?
Thanx, Ron

Hi, Ron.
Would you be able to use someone else's 1½" scale axle pump? I've been working on the casting for the body of mine for my Allen Consolidation. The Allen version uses a ½" diameter piston and the stroke is about 1½" (3/4" in either direction). How ever you do it, I would suspect the only part you would need to fabricate from a casting would be the eccentric strap. The body of mine is cast from bronze, but it's like a "T" that's tapped for the cylinder in the center and the two ball bearing valves for input/output. The eccentric strap is also from bronze, but could be fabricated as well; you'd lose a lot of material in trying to fabricate from solid stock, which is, I'm sure, why castings are usually used. Then again, maybe you have access to nice quantities and sizes of selvage materials.....
Anyway, for the scale, the dimensions of bore and stroke I gave you should give a good result. You can always go larger if you feel like it....
