I am completing an O gauge loco burning alcohol. Problem is the burner gets so hot it melts the hose connection from the tender. What to do?

Jim,
What kind of tubing is it? Silicone tubing is much more heat resistant than most. The hobby stores have small diameter tubing, and the industrial suppliers like McMaster-Carr have larger diameter.
Also, the excess heat at the feed tubing may be a sign that you do not have enough draft, or that your wicks are too high so you have too much fire.
