Hello again group; I was wondering if anyone had tried putting the black pavement sealer on their ties? It is pretty thin and well ofcourse it is black. It even has slight creasoat smell . The thought is for covering the green lumber that we get these days at the hardware store. I would rather look at that then green wood for a year or two!! Or would it be better to just put on a black/brown stain and go from there ;DSmokebox ;D

Smokebox, Thanks for asking that question. I, too, don't care for the appearance of the green wood and really don't like the recycled milk bottle, plastic ties.
Like you, I am searching for an answer.

Hi all, even though I agree with the color of the ties (green NOT being prefered), I am in the process of designing and building a 2000' track at my home (one big DOG BONE!) It would be too much work to try and dip or paint that many ties, UNLESS i could develop some sort of system to dip 50 or more at a time, then I would have to have space to let them dry.
What about building track panels without rail and laying them down THEN painting them?? You could run over it with a sprayer then apply the rails. Maybe more work, maybe a time saver?? Don't know.
Thoughts.
