I've looked up leaded phosphor bronze CDA-544 and it contains zinc, which I thought was not recommended for steam. So does CDA-932/SAE-660 bearing bronze. The other bronzes that seem to be broadly available are:
CDA-655 high silicon bronze does not contain zinc, and CDA-954 and 955 aluminum bronze do not contain zinc,
Are any of the latter used often in steam engines, if not what is?
-thanks Pete Lawrence.
(ps, I machined my A3 drivers rather than cast them, lots of work, but hey its a "hobby"!, plus I didn't have to hassle with finding a foundry etc...)
