I went to visit one of my shipyard customers a month ago, and in their office, they had this old Monarch Governor I asked where they got it, the owner said he picked it up at a antique show, and planned to make a lamp out of it. Even though it was all froze up and the top shaft was bent, it was mostly complete. I told them it was worth restoring. They said they had no means to do that, and would I like to have it. I asked how much, they said I could have it. Wow. so, I took in to my Machine Shop, stripped all of that red paint off, and took it all apart. I bead blasted all of the cast iron, made a new top shaft, lock collar, and control rod, machined a new main drive shaft, reamed out all of the linkage holes and machined new nickel bronze pins, machined a new flat belt pulley, and a new pressure adjustment worm screw. I painted all of the cast iron parts, lapped the valve plunger, and reassembled it. It is now in working order, (if only I had a engine) It is now on display in the front hall way of my home. I think it turned out nice.
