RC locomotive controls and couplers don't mix. Back in the Lincoln coupler days the brakie would use a club to line up the link, at least the smart ones did. Today we were digging ditches to bury our signal wiring and using the GP-9 for the work train engine. Late in the afternoon it would not pull the grade anymore (low batteries I think) so I went to the barn and got the F7 with the tethered control. While trying to couple up the two and get them MUed together I had to open the knuckle on one and as I bent down to do that I somehow hit the throttle. While it is only a thumb, I can say for sure that there was pain enough to go all the way to the shoulder and I won't be picking my Taylor 12-string for a while. Ain't railroading fun? Or as they say up nort--UFFDA! It is only a 75 year old thumb, does anyone know if it takes longer to scar over at that age? 20 January--it is starting to heal up some. It still smarts some in the cold though.
