We have installed a new 3 block signal system on our Nostalgia Trip railroad. We decided on Integral Circuits wireless signals, the only wiring we needed was from the solar panel/battery box/charger to the signal head then a wire to each of the signal switches, claim and release. We are extremely pleased with the workmanship of the heads and control system. We installed our first block and wired it up and it worked perfectly after turning on the power at the control panel. I used 6X6X4 J-Boxes available from any electrical supply business. Two wire 16 gauge electrical cord was used for the wiring system, and even though it is not rated for direct burial, it will last for our life time if the Moles don't find it eatable and gnaw them. 1" conduit was used to protect the wire from the lawn keeping machinery from the solar panel 4X4 post (Ground contact treated from Lowe's) and under the J-box attached to the signal head. All this was done with about 2" of frozen ground, but once through the frost the digging was easy--burying the lines between the claim and release switches will have to wait until the frost is out of the ground.
