The first trains were run today on the Nostalgia Trip. Joe Holbrook from Lexington brought his Southern switcher and a couple of riding cars down to try out the new track.
The NMRA division 10 guys from Lexington had their annual meeting at our O scale layout and a number of them had a chance to ride the train.
We pushed the F-7 around the layout once just to get a few photos as it is not operating yet but hopefully by September we will have it running.
It rained on us for a couple of hours. Joe brought his ballast tamping machine and we went around the whole layout, sometimes in the rain, and tamped all the ties. It is much smoother now and some of the kinks are now out but I have some more to do. The sun kinks need some straightening and I have a couple of curves that need some easement built in at the head of the curve, other than that everything went well with only a few derailments.

End of the day with the rain finally letting up enough to run some.
It was a great day and the golden spike was driven in, a 1928 Great Northern tie date nail taken from a tie when the Great Northern line from Alexandria MN to St. Cloud MN was torn up a number of years ago.
