I want to get into a CNC machine for my Live steam hobby, I am really intrigued by the taig CNC milling Machines, would a Taig Mill be suffice for most 3/4" locomotive building work? I have a 10" Atlas lathe with a milling attachment, and I do have access to a bridgeport mill. I have also looked at the sherline CNC mill also. Any advice would be appreciated, Zach

The answer is that any part which fits within the XYZ envelope of the Taig can be milled, and anything larger needs a different machine. Personally I would look at a larger machine if your budget and shop space allows.

Hi Zach, I started building by Kozo A3 on a Sherline. There are quite a lot of the parts that can be done with that size machine, but there are significant exceptions. If you had access to a larger machine for milling big stuff like frames and boiler parts, then you could make it work.
