I just completed my A3 switcher in 3/4 inch scale in August. I'm very pleased with how it runs but the axle pump doesn't keep up with the water demand. Has anyone else had this problem? If I run the engine on compressed air the water level increases so I know the pump is moving some water but not fast enough to keep up when steaming. I am probably going to add a steam driven pump this winter but I would like to know if Kozo's pump works for other people.

At what position is the reverse gear during operation?

Mostly the reversing gear is in full forward because our track has some serious grades. It seems like the pump should be able to keep up even at the full gear setting. At least that would be the way I would design it.

Although I'm a long way from running on steam, this issue is very interesting as someday I hope to. Looking at the drawings I see a lot of potential problems that may cause insufficient water flow ... but before we get into that maybe you could tells us about what you have done so far to troubleshoot the problem.
