I am about ready to paint my A3 tender wheels. After some reading it looks like it is best to get some chromate paint. Where do I find this, products like the handyman store stuff do not contain this, is it a automotive thing?
What brands would you recommend.

I used flat black automotive paint. Looks nice. Pick any hardware store brand...

Everybody seems to do their own thing. My other hobby is restoring old cars so I typically shoot a 2 part automotive epoxy first and then I go over it with a satin black. I use the epoxy as a ground coat because it's tough. After the epoxy I shoot the new Rustoleum "Universal" line. I'm a big believer in going with a standard garden variety paint because it's a huge timesaver to be able to touch up at any time, any where. Some areas will need a high heat paint. BBQ paint is what I use.
Many choose to go "all out" and powder coat but I don't particular care for the look. It's very similar to pouring plastic over parts. It can be really nice on certain things but I just don't care for the look.
