Dear group: Hello: Just want to introduce myself......John K......owner of Friends Models/Yankee Shop in Massachusetts......and let you know that I have castings available for the 3/4" scale Pennsylvania A3 Switcher. Drive wheels have been available for some time, and cast iron cylinders are now (March 2010) available. Full details may be seen on www.friendsmodels.com. "New Shay" wheels, and drive wheels for the 1-1/2" scale A3 Switcher, are also available. Iron cylinders for the 1-1/2" scale A3 are in development and will be ready soon. I have been asked to do castings for the cylinders, eccentrics, bottom bracket & bearing caps, and the left/right journal boxes for the 3/4" scale New Shay. Does this interest anyone? Thanks! -John K. www.friendsmodels.comjohn@friendsmodels.com > >

Welcome to the forum John! I hope that there are enough interested builders out there to support your continued efforts in this direction. Kozo's cylinder manufacturing technique is very novel, but some may opt for a more traditional cast look. This offering goes a long way towards providing that, in addition to the already fine driver sets you now offer. John makes excellent castings and I have a set of his A3 drivers.
As a quick side note, anyone wishing to post advertisements directly related to Kozo parts or services are welcome to do so, as an exception to the no advertising rule mentioned in the account agreement.
Cheers,
--Mike

Mike, thanks for the compliment on the castings. They were designed from Mr. Hiraoka's drawings and are produced at a commercial iron foundry in New England. Group: my website runs "specials" from time to time, & details are always printed on the home page (www.friendsmodels.com). The current special is a "zip lock baggie" of genuine Mt. Washington Cog Railway coal from Mt. Washington NH, free with any castings purchase. The steam engines on Mt. Washington are being phased out, replaced by diesels, and 3 of the 7 steamers have already been taken offline. Only one steam loco is still in regular use, while the remaining 3 await the future. With your purchase of any castings from Friends, you will receive a baggie of coal from Mt. Washington. Use it to fire your loco, or as a memento of the legendary "Cog RR". I was employed at Mt. Washington for 9 years. Thank you, -John K. www.friendsmodels.com
