Maybe I worded it poorly; I would be very pleased if someone could confirm, deny, or give me their informed opinion on this question:
Would a Taig milling machine be able to handle the milling tasks for building Ed Hume's Climax Class A locomotive (gauge 1) ?
I am asking before buying Ed Hume's book because I need to know if my machine can handle the milling tasks before committing to purchasing the book.
I do have two lathes available to me that I am sure are large enough. Not sure about the mill.
Any reply would be sincerely appreciated!
Thanks in advance

George,
I just got the book today. The Hume Climax is a small engine. Total length is only about 20 inches. It is highly likely that no parts would be larger than the Taig could handle.
I have a much larger mill, not a Taig, so I cannot give an "informed" opinion. However, the project should not be limited by the size of your existing machine tools. Even if a part or two were too large there would almost certainly be options for alternatives or outside help.
If that is the locomotive you want to build, don't let worries about the Taig mill get in the way.

Gene;
Thanks so much for your reply to my post! I had just about given up on the idea that someone would reply and hadn't checked back on my post in several days, and now today when I did come back, low and behold- you replied to my question! Thanks for the input and reassurance regarding the Taig's ability to produce the parts needed for this Gauge 1 locomotive. This gives me the confidence to order the book at Amazon, which I am going to do in a minute when done here. Once again, many thanks for your input.
