Hi Everyone:
Has anyone have a design for spring loaded switch which might typically be used in kick type and thus avoiding the use of the switch throw off to one side?

Yes, I have built 6 very simple kick-type switches I use in my backyard, 7.5 inch gauge. Parts for the mechanism can be had at home depot for about $6 per switch. Is it possible to post a video, and I can show you one in action. It is basically comprised of a steel sleeve approx 3/16" in diameter. Inserted in each end is a 10-24 eyebolt with a spring that slips over the sleeve. So what you have is a compressible link. A piece of barstock approx 1/2" wide is drilled at one end and attached to the center of the points' cross bar. it is hinged by screwing it into the center of the next tie. at the other end of the barstock it is drilled and bolted to one end of the spring link. The other end of the spring link is screwed into another tie further down. So the small side to side motion of the pojnts' crossbar is amplified by the lever effect to a larger side by side motion at one end of the spring link. You can adjust the effort it takes to "kick" the switch by varying the spring tension. Every few months I give the switch action a squirt of oil and otherwise they're pretty maintenance free.
