So, Mike, judging from the link to the advertisement video, that's quite an impressive collection of video of Cab Forwards rolling around from here to there. I hadn't realized (until Doug's post) that they ran other places than the Sierra. Someone made the comment that they were designed specifically for Sierra service...maybe they meant Sierra-type service...but that's where I got my misinformation from.
Anyway, after you've had a chance to puruse the video, please fill us in! If I get jealous enough, I may break down and buy it...but I'm trying to keep my railroad money going into actual contributions towards an operating live steam locomotive. If you ever make it up this way to visit SVLS or go to the museum or both, let me know. (And bring the video with you! I'd definitely like to see that!)

OK, I'll let you know. Pentrex is a real mixed bag sometimes. Some of their stuff is just junk, and some of it is great. They have to deal with trying to put together disparate footage, much of it from amateur 16 and 8mm/super8 filmmakers. But sometimes they get great footage or promotional films from railroads. The other problem is they're thrifty on compression. Rather than split a long program on to multiple discs, they'll cram it all onto one disc at the expense of compression quality.
This one looks like it has enough stuff that it should be great.
I'm thinking I'll come to Sacramento when they next have a meet up, and then hit the museum and what-not at the same time. Looks like Oct 20 - 21 is the next big thing?

Yes, that's it; the Fall Meet. I hope they'll have the CF out there, but I'm never sure who's going to show up. In any case, there's always a lot of fun engines laying around to look at....

Cool.
I got the Cab Forward video, it's actually not bad, though there are large parts with just stills and interviews. Unfortunately few people are still alive that saw them in person. Probably the most spectacular footage is the snow shots (but I'm partial to steam in snow) some of which is seen in the trailer.
