Here is a bunch of parts that are in process. The cranks are all cut on side 1. I need to bore the center bores and cut them to thickness and cut the keyways. Andy Pullen Attachments:

Nice work, Andy.
Curious though... Why wouldn't you bore the journals right after drilling them on the same setup? Won't it be harder to line them back up on the hole?

To answer your question simply....no. I loaded the parts in a 5c collet and they are accurate within .001". Not a problem.

Ah yes. Thanks. The more I read, the more I think I need to invest in a 5C collet system. Bison makes a nice 5C collet chuck. I have one on my small lathe. If you get to Cabin Fever, you can also pick up milling fixtures that take 5C collets. I have a horizontal indexer I bought there. I also have a H/V fixture. It doesn't index, but it is useful. I picked a Kalamazoo tilting collet indexer out of a dumpster at a former job. That has been useful for several jobs. Watch ebay....there's always lots of 5C stuff on there, too.

Hi Chuck,
I am converting from metric to standard. That's what I'm used to working with. It's a simple matter to convert it....just multiply the mm dimensions by .03937".
That being said; there are some things that will be changed to make it easier for me. Why reinvent the wheel when I don't have to? It will depend on how the mating parts are assembled.
Wheel diameters will be unchanged. The axles will be readily available material. I'm machining the axles using standard fractional dimensions. Loctite won't be used....keyways and press fits will be. The lengths will be unchanged from Kozo's dimensions except that the wheelsets will be made to IBLS standards for 3 1/2" track.
