I have wheel blanks sawing for tender trucks.
Curtis found that Despatch Arch bar Caboose trucks are the correct length and size for the tender trucks. I have a pair on the way. Minus wheels and bolsters. They are sending a drawing of the bolster so I can make those.
Once I start turning wheels, I'll post a pic.

If you know the dimensions of the prototype tender than machining its wheels doesn't require having Kozo's plans.

Well, yeah.... I guess that would be the obvious answer. Unfortunately, the "obvious" escapes me at times. Thanks.

Andy,
Just for fun, how thick are you making your wheels ? Seems to me they should normally be made to IBLS standards for 3.5 inch gauge, but that would probably not be to scale.
I might get a bunch of slices too : - )

Hi Guys,
I am cutting 3" diameter round into slices between 11/16" and 3/4" long. Tender wheels can be made of 2 3/4" diameter material.
I have drawn the wheels up to some proposed 30mm standards drawn up by Curtis Ferrington. I think Kozo scaled it exactly and his numbers don't quite match.
I haven't received my first issue, yet. Hopefully tomorrow.
I did get a copy of Model Railroader from June of 1973 that has some nice O scale drawings of the K-27s.
I am part of a group of 6 that is pooling resources somewhat. So, I am making a bunch of wheels right now. As of right now, if somebody else wants some wheels, I can add them to my production run.

Here is the website for the tender trucks I'm going to use: www.despatchrailroad.com/ Scroll across for the arch bar caboose trucks. I have waterjetted out a pair of bolsters...the axle has been drawn as a .dwg file and as a solid. I have sawn some nice walnut scraps for the tender beams. I answered your question in more detail on the Chaski thread, Michael. I do have a drawing for the drivers. Don't ask me where I got it, please. Kozo is showing 13mm width for the drivers. .512" wide for us here in the US. andy

Not much has been made in the last month. I had a job to finish up and get delivered that was taking all of my time. If you look at the previous post's pic, all those rods were completed and delivered.

Hi Andy,
As busy as you always sound you gonna have time to build this baby? It will be fun to watch here to see how things progress.
I've been away from the shop for months it seems. Been a year since I finished the boiler for my A3. Wayne helped me adjust some things to go from copper to steel and we heated it up to pressure and checked for leaks. Haven't done much since.

Hi Paul, I am squeezing stuff in as I can. The small lathe is open and I'm going to fit the tender wheels and axles in. As of right now, I'm doing 2 sets. There is a shaker table being made for a local candy company in the mill and some formers for a Milner C19 next and then on to a ton of UP stuff.... While machines are running; I'll be making tender chain hangers, rerailer frog hangers and rivetting everything together for the K27.... Andy

Here is a set of waterjet cut cranks. I have a hunk of 3/4" rusty cold rolled steel that I've been cutting stuff out of for a couple of years. Use what you have... I've been digging through my mountains of drops and scraps and found suitable material for the driver axles and journal boxes. Brass isn't my first choice for driver journals, but I had some nice bronze discs that were going to be used for something else so those were sliced up in the saw over the weekend. Now, I just need to get some time to size everything up. Andy Attachments:

Here are the journal boxes. I still need to bore them and cut the slots for the pedestals. Attachments:
