Well I couldn't make it to the NAMES show this year, did anyone here go? Just wondering if anyone talked to LS&ORR about the new Kozo K-27 project... I'm curious to see if it will be in English or Metric, and about how long the series will run... John

Here's a pic of Kevin Doe's K27 in 2.5" scale:

The cat is now out of the bag with live steam magazine subscription renewal notices appearing in the mail advertising the series to start in the summer, as well as a mention at Cabin Fever.
Yes it is a D&RG K-27, in 3.5" gauge, with metric dimensions. Kozo indicated to me that it would be his last book / series. A fine way to cap off an amazing 'career' as possibly the world's greatest designer of models intended to be build-able by anybody.
As it is a narrow gauge model, it will be quite a larger model than his previous standard gauge items. I also suspect that due to the love of all things D&RG, this model may become the most widely built one over time. I think that some people will also choose to scale it up to 4 3/4 or 5" track as well as 7 1/2" gauge. There have been a few 'one offs' built in 7 1/2" as you can see, but never a complete set of plans.

It is my impression that the drawings will be metric, however, there will be helpful guidance on using inch fasteners and possibly substituting inch materials. In the US it has become much easier to buy metric size material in recent years so the choice of metric or inch drawings is no longer the issue it was in the 70s and 80s.

Received from Kozo today:
"The scale of the working model is 3.5/36 = 1/10.286, or nearly 1ft = 1.167"
So he made no compromises as to even numbers for scale - it's precise to the track.
He did also state as Ed indicated that there will be some tips and hints for imperial fastener substitution.

Nice to know that he's scaling it to the track. I can't hardly wait to see some pictures of the little beauty. Todd
